My how our world has changed. We are now making parts for the COVID response. Manufacturing parts that will become IV poles for all of these extra hospital beds you hear about. Turns out they aren’t much good without IV poles. We are doing our best to keep our employees and their families safe during these times, and we are happy we can help with the response in any way possible. Masks are now required to enter our facility. Only necessary deliveries and visitors will be allowed in. Keep your chin up and your head down. Thanks to the DMU we finally got this part down to two ops in the mill. The most challenging feature is a long counter bore that runs almost the entire length of the part. I managed to sneak in from the back side with a #harveytool key seat cutter holding it by its tail and puckering the entire time. #stollenmachine #manufacturing #engineering #instamachinist #madeinamerica

Y axis milling for the win today! If I where using XC as apposed to XY the boring bar would have had clearance issues with the jaws. Obviously this lathe is overkill for the job and I probably wouldn’t have had a problem if I was doing it in a 6” chuck, but it sure is nice to have the flexibility to use Y when necessary! #stollenmachine #instamachinist #manufacturing #engineering #madeinamerica #dmgmori
